Muck Huckin'

A great group showed up for the Wed. night ride this week. Liz, Jill, and I decided we were going to explore the MVP trails the week before and put it out that others were welcome to join. A pretty big group showed up. There was some puzzled faces when the supposed group coordinator admitted that he had no idea where he was going. All worked out o.k. though as everyone had a sense of adventure (that...and Josh showed up to lead the way).

Got a fair bit accomplished that night:
  • Managed to get an answer as to why it's MVP (as opposed to the obvious MVB)
  • Managed to huck myself clear over my handlebars. Ended up winded and very bruised.
  • Managed to ride the tetter-totter on the 3rd go at it (thanks for the spot kids)
  • Managed to flat my tire in fading twilight.
The flat was actually really funny. I pulled out a patch kit and started looking for the puncture. Seeing that, a chorus of riders simultaneously offered up tubes for me. Great.... 'cept for:
  • First tube coming my way from Liz was the wrong size and wrong valve (but to her credit... it would have correctly fit her own bike)
  • Second tube offered up was a a skinny road bike tube (complete fail... we had a chat about how not all tire tubes are the same)
  • Third tube offered up was correct size but incorrect valve (for both my bike... and her own). With the sun almost gone I took it, filled it half full, and it got me back to the road.  Thanks Jill M.!
Overall super fun.

A few pics of the Muck Huckers:

A few more (taken at ISO 800, F-1.8, and pushed up 2 full stops... desperate... but you get the idea)

  1. LOL great tire story. I have to confess, one day I grabbed a road tire tube into my camel bak and didn't realize it until too late it was the wrong kind of tube;) Looks like you guys had a lot of fun:)

  2. So, why MVP and not MVB?

  3. I guess it's Marysville Place instead of Marysville Bypass?
